MK Breakers Inspire Arbours Primary Academy Students at Basketball Workshop

On Friday 14th February, the students at Arbours Primary Academy were thrilled to welcome some very special visitors from the MK Breakers basketball team, including coaches and players, for the DRET Sport Basketball Workshop! The day kicked off with an assembly led by Coach Paige and player Chris, where they shared information about the club and Chris’s inspiring journey in basketball. The children had the chance to take part in a Q&A session with Chris, who answered some fantastic questions, as well as telling a few jokes to keep everyone entertained!

After the assembly, the day continued with coaching sessions for Years 3 and 4, focusing on dribbling skills and shooting. Later in the afternoon, we were joined by three more players from the USA – Nate, Ace, and KJ – who delivered sessions for Year 5. The children were inspired by hearing the players’ stories of growing up in America and moving to the UK to pursue their basketball careers. The players encouraged the students to believe that they can achieve anything they set their minds to.

At the end of each session, the children were presented with certificates by the players, and a ‘Player of the Session’ was chosen from each class. These lucky students were awarded a brand new basketball, signed by the players! According to the student voice survey, 93% of the children who took part said they "loved the day."

A huge thank you to the MK Breakers for making it such a memorable experience!
